Still Life Paintings

Still life paintings by famous artists give us good painting ideas. Cézanne painted still life with fruit and cloth, paintings and images and still life drawings that inspire us today. Still lives are not easy. A still life depicts inanimate objects like books, flowers, fruit, vases, anything not moving or sitting on the table to include shoes and everyday objects. Early still life paintings before 1700 included allegorical symbolism. Oil painting was developed by Jan Van Eyck and European artists who use the layering processes of oil paint to create translucent effects
Still life painting represents space, three-dimensional space. The objects in that space need to create an illusion of depth. The artist is an illusionist. The spacial illusion is particularly important in landscapes and still life painting. The viewer must be drawn into the painting, must experience the illusion of depth.
